Educational aim of Bevrijdingsmuseum Maastricht

Making young people aware of the social situation at the time
and starting the conversation so that they better understand situations in the present.

The Second World War is getting further and further behind us. There will come a time when there will be no more survivors left from this war. And at the same time, unfortunately, there are always new wars in the world. We want to keep the stories about the war alive in the Netherlands in a way that will last, and we want to make young people think. The project is aimed at pupils in the second and third year of secondary school and their teachers, who are are learning about the subject of the Second World War in their school.

Educational purpose

We want to familiarise this younger target group in particular with important events from the Second World War. We want to make them aware of the social situation at the time, so that they can better understand and, if possible, help prevent war situations in the present...
